Yet, he continues to impress on screen with upcoming releases, such as the TV mini-series The Sympathizer. This makes fans wonder how the star manages to look half his age and stays in such great shape.

According to sources, he follows a highly specific meal plan. The regime includes 30 percent fat, 30 percent protein, and 40 percent carbs. There were also rumors about whether RDJ ate fish daily, which he confirmed in his book Cool Food: Erasing Your Carbon Footprint One Bite at a Time. He writes, “I tried going all-in vegetarian—even vegan—but it just doesn’t work for me… Without some animal protein, I find myself with low levels of vitamin B12, calcium, iodine, and iron. These are common deficiencies that can result from vegan diets.” The star also says on its pages, “The rumors are true: I’m a pescatarian. That means I eat fish every now and again…”

For those wondering if he needs the iron from animal protein to thrive, he affirms in a podcast interview with Green Queen, “I’m a vegetarian, occasional pescatarian. If I start feeling lightheaded, I might have some shrimp or maybe a steelhead trout.”

The actor is also sincere about his workouts. He is a regular at the gym and has early morning workout sessions. For Avengers: Infinity War, the superstar followed a variety of exercises. He didn’t leave any stone unturned; from leg presses and T-bar rows to an ab-training system, he did it all!

The man who played Lewis Strauss in the Blockbuster movie Oppenheimer has also revealed to sources that martial arts helped transform his body and mind. He specifically turned to Wing Chun, a technique practiced by artists like Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan. “I can’t even say how much [martial arts] have impacted my ability to stay well and focused,” Downey Jr. told Oprah in 2011. He added, “It’s a spiritual practice. It’s grounded me, and its primary purpose is to promote a sense of spiritual warriordom, and to respect your society, and to be prepared to defend yourself and your society if necessary.”
