She added, “But what I understood as beauty growing up was it wasn’t about, ‘Look at me,’ it was about, ‘This is me,’ and it was about sort of transforming yourself into another version, and making a choice… that was really about how you wanted to show up in the world, versus trying to become something for someone else.”

Additionally, one of Ross’s beauty must-haves is the right scent. She finds similarities in the language of music and the language of fragrance. She also believes it is incredibly important to smell how you envision yourself. Unsurprisingly, Ross has her own fragrance. “It’s light enough, yet exquisite enough…I wanted the fragrance to have a little bit of a mystery. I wanted it to sing,” Ross told Vogue about her signature fragrance.

Over the decades, Ross has reinvented her artistry several times. Yet, if there is one enduring thing about her, it is her glamorous dressing sense. Whether she is rocking neon-glow dresses or sequined gowns, Ross subscribes to the idea of maximalism in clothing.
