Veteran Irish actor Liam Neeson, with his lustrous career in Hollywood movies and theater, is known for some iconic franchises, including Star Wars and The Chronicles of Narnia. He started his career on the big screen with Pilgrim’s Progress in 1978 and has acted in around 102 films over 45 years. To achieve this level of success and different career trajectories, maintaining good health is essential. Neeson’s attitude towards fitness is unconventional. Let’s find out!

The Wrap

The Schindler’s List star’s chiseled body and his physique at the age of 71 is a living testament. Like all actors in showbiz, Neeson realizes he needs to be in shape to handle all the work, but he has a relaxed approach to the whole fitness regimen. The Oscar-nominated actor loves to follow a rather unorthodox fitness regime and stays miles away from the gym.

Neesen enhances his endurance and stamina by sticking to the basics. He does bodyweight workouts, occasional lightweight training on his own, and goes on power walks as an extra aerobic activity to maintain his mental and physical health. The routine includes push ups, pull ups, squats, and other exercises using just his body.

Neeson also has a special inclination towards power walking. He prioritizes a regular 8-mile loop, sometimes accompanied by a friend called Amy, for the last 16 years. His fondness for the activity combined with a close walking partner he calls “a lovely lady” has even landed him on the suspicious side of her husband. So much so that Neeson had to reassure his walking partner’s husband during an event that they were “not having an affair” and that “All we do is walk in the park,” as quoted by Express.

Neeson, who changed the tide of his acting career after starring in Pierre Morel’s thriller Taken, also focuses a great deal on his eating habits. He doesn’t have any bad lifestyle habits, has quit a few that he realized were detrimental to his health, and focuses on good food. “[I eat] fruits and vegetables. And I make sure there’s always a potato on my plate,” he told Men’s Health in a recent interview. He has also cut back on carbohydrates and eats foods high in protein. And it doesn’t matter if he’s traveling, the healthy habit remains with him. Now, with a routine like that, it’s no brainer that the 71-year-old is still doing many of his own fights in film and television.
