Action movies have a fan-base of their own and when you see action stars in their 60s doing what the young ‘uns do, it’s kind of encouraging. Smart talking, swashbuckling, salt-and-pepper-rocking (at least some of them) legendary action stars have performed some pretty cool stunts and dangerous action sequences for their movies, reiterating that age is just a number. If this isn’t impressive, then we don’t know what is.

Liam Neeson

Veteran actor and Tony Award-winner, Liam Neeson, who was also an amateur boxer, took on the world of action films at a young age. Whether it was a period film like Rob Roy or a sci-fi one like Star Wars, or whether he was playing a distraught father on a mission to save his kidnapped daughter in Taken, the famed Irish Hollywood icon seems to have done it all. Neeson has starred in more than 102 films in over four decades. With movies like Schindler’s List, Gangs of New York, Batman Begins and The Chronicles of Narnia making up some of his most memorable roles, the 71-year-old actor has no intention of slowing down. In the latest hitman film, In The Land of Saints and Sinners, he is seen embroiled in a crew of terrorists, town violence, and his increasingly difficult attempt to stay unbothered.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

The 76-year-old bodybuilder is the epitome of age-defying strength, and the list of legendary Hollywood action stars is incomplete without Arnold Schwarzenegger. Considered the OG of action, Schwarzenegger has given some groundbreaking performances in movies like The Terminator, Commando, Predator, Conan the Barbarian, andTrue Lies, some of which are considered cult classics. Even at 76, the actor seems to have no plans to retire. In the last decade alone, he has acted in films like Terminator: Dark Fate and Iron Mask. The martial arts comedy film Kung Fury 2 is among his upcoming and anticipated projects.

This 61-year-old heartthrob is proof that “age is just a number.” While aging hasn’t affected his charm at all, it’s his power-packed action and energy that has kept his audiences hooked. The global icon who spent his career chasing criminals and conquering impossible missions, Cruise has given some smash hits in his lifetime, including Top Gun, Minority Report, The Last Samurai, Edge of Tomorrow, and Jack Reacher. His upcoming action film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two is set to release next year.

The incredibly fit Malaysian actress starred in many Hollywood films like Memoirs of a Geisha, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The 61-year-old is all set to appear in the Avatar franchise in the coming years.

An Academy Award winner, Mirren carved a name for herself in the action genre with films like RED and the Fast & Furious franchise. In her latest release, F9: The Fast Saga, the actress confidently performed some power-packed action sequences. Despite having over 60 films under her belt, the 76-year-old has no plans to hang up her boots and is currently shooting for the much anticipated Fast X: Part 2 alongside Vin Diesel.

He may be the oldest on the list but at 86 years of age is also one of the most active and fittest actors in the industry. Widely successful, Morgan Freeman has starred in over 100 films and bagged multiple accolades, including nominations for a Tony Award, three Emmy Awards, and five Academy Awards. While the Street Smart actor didn’t break out on screen until he was 50, Freeman has no intention of giving up acting now. His recent releases like 57 Seconds, Gunner, and the action thriller Vanquish are all critically acclaimed.
