Hugh Jackman’s age-defying public appearances have sparked many debates. Even at 55, the Prisoners star never fails to deliver rigorous, high-intensity action scenes with perfection. But did you know that just like his on-screen character, Hugh Jackman is also a fighter in real life? The Logan actor’s battle against skin cancer unfolds as a truly inspiring narrative. In fact, he had undergone at least six surgical procedures to remove basal cell cancer from his face. Jackman’s fight against skin cancer made him very vocal about its prevention. Since his first diagnosis, the actor has consistently advocated for sunscreen usage through interviews and social media posts. Sunscreen, as we know, creates a protective barrier that prevents the skin from absorbing UV rays, significantly reducing the chances of developing skin cancer. In one of his Instagram posts, Jackman highlights this fact, saying, “If I can just take this opportunity to remind you, summer is coming for us in the Northern Hemisphere. Please wear sunscreen. It is just not worth it, no matter how much you want a tan…trust me… This is all stuff that happened 25 years ago, [and] it’s coming out now. Put some sunscreen on…” Under the caption for the same post, Jackman wrote, “I know you’ve heard me talk about my basal cell carcinomas before. I’m going to keep talking about them if need be. And if it reminds even one person to put on sunscreen with a high SPF, then I’m happy.” This commitment will most definitely earn him respect and admiration from all quarters.
