The music industry is rich in youth culture, with artists releasing track after track to woo audiences. But in the thick of it all are seasoned musicians who have delivered several hits. These legendary artists have even crossed the 50s and 60s and continue to bewitch fans with new tracks for the playlist each season. In fact, some of their tracks do so well that they win awards like GRAMMYs, proving they still got it.

Dolly Parton

A living legend, Dolly Parton is one of those artists we could play on repeat. The Queen of Country has won several awards throughout her career, with more recent additions like a GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song in 2021. Parton was about 75 then and continues to release music, including tracks alongside artists like Meghan Trainor and Zach Williams, proving age is just a number.

Diana Ross

If there’s anything to thank Diana Ross for, it’s for setting up the base for girl music groups to flourish right from the 60s. The lead singer of the vocal group, The Supremes, has delivered multiple popular tracks, including her 1979 hit single, The Boss. Ross has an exceptional list of accolades to her name. At 73, she bagged the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 American Music Awards (AMA), may we add, like a boss?!

Stevie Nicks

Fans remember Stevie Nicks as the lead vocalist and member of Fleetwood Mac, a group she also shared a GRAMMY with for Album of the Year in 1978. Nicks is also a two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The first was for her work as a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1998, and the second was as a solo artist in 2019, when she was in her 70s. Even today, the singer-songwriter continues to attract fans across the globe.

Material Girl, Borderline, and Papa Don’t Preach are just some of the songs Madonna has blessed our playlists with since Holiday made it to the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1983. When she was in her 50s, in 2012, the Queen of Pop won a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song – Motion Picture. Moving on, in 2021, Madonna sang Popular—with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti—a hit single that has been streamed over 700 million times. Today, the Detroit-born singer has 53 wins and 135 nominations to her name, with no intention of slowing down. Recently, Madonna ended The Celebration Tour – an 81-stop tour that had begun in 2023.

Barbra Streisand

The Brooklyn-born singer has won eight GRAMMY Awards and 46 nominations through her diverse artistic career. The incredible artist has given fans every reason to adore her with hits like Evergreen, a track for which she even received an Academy Award and two GRAMMYs. Fast-forward to 2011, in her 60s, she was honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year, and at 82 years today, Barbra Streisand won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards. 

Bruce Springsteen

The lead member of the E Street Band, Bruce Springsteen, has achieved several accolades, including 20 GRAMMYs. Yep, 20! In 1999, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2024, Bruce Springsteen received the highest honor in songwriting, an Academy Fellowship of The Ivors Academy. With this achievement, Springsteen became the first international songwriter to be inducted into The Ivors Academy Fellowship.

Rod Stewart

The legendary singer-songwriter fascinated millions with rock and pop hits through the 1960s. Rod Stewart found success and rose to stardom in 1971 with his album Every Picture Tells a Story. While he has won multiple awards since the dawn of his career, the musician and composer has also bagged accolades like a GRAMMY for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album in 2005, when he was in his 60s. The rockstar behind hits like Maggie May and Do Ya Think I’m Sexy? also received the Honorary Bambi for Lifetime Achievement in 2018.

The voice behind Tiny Dancer and Your Song has a long list of awards to his name even after he turned 50. In 2020, Elton John won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song – Motion Picture for (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again. His recent hits like Cold Heart, Hold Me Closer, and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart (Remastered) prove that the singer, songwriter, and pianist has no intentions of retiring.

He has won nine prestigious awards throughout his career so far, the first one being a GRAMMY for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals in 2006. The star-studded musician, now 62, has also been named the 2024 MusiCares Person Of The Year.

The legendary singer also made his mark in his 50s; for the song Ordinary Love, he won the Golden Globe Award at the 2014 Golden Globes for Best Original Song – Motion Picture and Best Song of the Year Award at the Los Angeles Italia Film Festival. The artist is in his 60s today, but his dedication to music will certainly never age.

Nothing’s better than listening to some Cyndi Lauper tracks to cheer up the mood.
