The four-time Grammy award winner, Lenny Kravitz, recently turned 60. He released his first studio album, Let Love Rule, in 1989 and has been unstoppable ever since. Just around his 60th birthday, Kravitz released his latest studio album, Blue Electric Light. Speaking to Grammy about releasing his first album in six years, he said, “Everything happens in the time that it should, and I’m looking forward to putting this out and getting back on the road.” Besides being a musician, The Fly Away singer has also ventured into acting, with his most notable role being in The Hunger Games movie series.
Johnny Depp
The acting prowess of thePirates of the Caribbean star is no secret to the world. But along with his acting career, Depp has also been one of the most popular rock artists. He is currently a part of the rock band Hollywood Vampires, as a guitarist and vocalist. Before that, Depp was also a member of the bands P and Rock City Angels. The Dark Shadows actor, who is about to turn 61, has also been quite active on the stage. His last tour with his band was in mid-2023, when they performed live in Paris.
Jon Bon Jovi
The Blaze of Glory singer, Jon Bon Jovi, has always been among the most loved rock stars in the country. Jon, who turned 62 in March this year, has never failed to captivate his listeners with his tracks, whether solo or those with his band, Bon Jovi. Recently, the band released two single tracks, Legendary and Living Proof, from their album Forever. So, while he is still active in recording studio albums, unfortunately, we might not see him perform on stage any time soon due to his health issues. In an interview with the Boston radio station Mix 104.1, Jon said, “I don’t know about a tour.” Later, addressing his health issues, he also stated, “I’m well on the road to recovery” and mentioned that he wishes to go on a tour “next year” (2025).
If there ever is a list of the most talented rock stars, David Duchovny is sure to make it among the top names. Duchovny is not only an established musician but also a popular actor, director, and author. His most noteworthy acting performance has undoubtedly been in the science fiction series The X-Files. Speaking of his career in rock music, Duchovny released his debut album, Hell or Highwater, in 2015, and his latest studio album, Gestureland, was released in 2021. In November 2023, the 63-year-old rocker was on a tour for that album.
Madonna
Seven-time Grammy award winner Madonna began her career in 1982 with her first single, Everybody. Since then, she has released a number of hit songs across various genres. At one point, she was also a member of the popular rock band Breakfast Club. In February 2024, Madonna and her collaborators The Weeknd and Playboy Carti released a music video for their latest single, Popular. She also went on her concert tour, The Celebration Tour, which began in October 2023 and ended in May 2024.
Bono
The lead vocalist of U2, Bono, has had a celebrated music career, both as a solo artist and as part of the rock band. The Irish singer, who turned 64 this year, performed with his band at the Sphere in Las Vegas a few months ago. In a 2022 interview with The New York Times, Bono talked about his insights into making music that resonates with his audience. He said, “It’s just much harder to sneak into the unconscious minds of your audience. The song has to be so good that it gets passed around and people hold on to it for dear life.”
Axl Rose
The lead vocalist of the hard rock band Guns N’ Roses, Axl Rose, has also been very active in his rock music journey, even at the age of 62. Although the band has not released any new studio albums in over a decade, they have been actively performing live tours. In June 2023, Kiedis appeared on Flea’s podcast, This Little Light, where he talked about the beginnings of his career as a rock musician. Sharing how he never felt fulfilled in any other job he tried, he said, “None of it really gave me a sense of accomplishment or like, ‘This is what I was meant to do with my life’ until we wrote a song.”
