Can you think of any celebrity who wears multiple hats? Someone who acts, sings, raps, produces movies, sweeps the world with his talent, and kills with his great personality? Yes, Will Smith it is! Besides having a power-packed voice and being incredibly charismatic, this icon never fails to amaze all of us with his debonair look! So, we just had to get to the bottom of Will Smith’s fitness regime.
From a Screen Actors Guild Award to a Golden Globe Award and a whopping four Grammys for rap performances, Will Smith has won several accolades. Smith began rapping as early as age 12, growing up in West Philadelphia. He began his journey with his friend Jeffrey Townes (DJ Jazzy Jeff), who formed the hip-hop duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince.
Will Smith went solo after the duo stopped collaborating and became more well-known in the acting arena. His first major movie breakthroughs were in Six Degrees of Separation and Bad Boys. He also began his solo music venture in 1997 with the release of Men in Black, in which he starred. Over the years, the actor has regaled us with exceptional performances in movies like The Pursuit of Happyness, Ali, the Men in Black series, Concussion, Aladdin, and Suicide Squad.
Even as Will Smith’s upcoming venture Bad Boys: Ride or Die is underway, and his fans wait with bated breath, we couldn’t help but notice how fit and active he is at 55. So, we decided to find out the actor’s secret. What we discovered sure left us awe-inspired and motivated!
Appearing on a Red Table Talk episode a few years ago, Smith acknowledged he had been rather indulgent with his food intake earlier. “I couldn’t believe I got to 50 years old without knowing you literally are what you eat. I eat food like an addict. I love food, but I realized my relationship with food was I eat for fun. I eat for joy,” he said on the talk show. But over the years, we have all witnessed his transition into the fitness freak he has become, and discipline apparently plays a major role.
For starters, the Pursuit of Happyness actor follows an uncompromising food regime with absolutely no processed food and sugar. He also follows a strict workout schedule comprising cardio, strength training, and HIIT for two hours daily, six days a week. He even consults a nutritionist who has been actively helping him maintain a calorie deficit of 500 calories daily. Smith begins his day by running, lifts weights four times a week, and does resistance training focused on specific body parts. His resistance training routine is fixed – two consecutive days followed by a day’s break and then another two days, after which the cycle repeats.
